B4b. Non-Predictive Component Pattern

  1. Click on the Non-Predictive Component Pattern tab
  2. Click Add Issue
  3. Type desired information into the Issue box
    1. Name and date of a named, unnumbered supplement
    2. Volume and number with date of a numbered supplement
    3. Whatever is logical based on the piece-in-hand
    4. Be consistent if possible but it is not always possible
    5. Bracket information such as dates which are not on the piece; example: [2003 Mar.]
    6. Always try to include the date of the main piece for an undated supplement
  4. Expected date:
    1. For a current issue in hand use the date of receipt
    2. When entering issues ahead, try to guesstimate a reasonable expected date based on the information in the CARL printout
    3. When really unsure about the expected date but claiming is wanted, add some extra time to the claiming date
    4. Expected dates can always be adjusted
  5. Click Add Issue

  6. Note: Many supplements will be recorded as they are received

  1. Check-in
    1. Highlight and copy title in component name box
    2. Click on Serials Check-in icon
    3. Paste title into the Search For box
    4. Click on Check-in
    5. Changes to individual issues, additional issues, etc. may be entered as needed before the issues are checked-in
    6. Highlight issue(s) to be checked-in (hold down Control key while selecting multiple issues)
    7. Click on Quick Check-in
