Four new staff members have joined the
library since last July:

Anna D'Agostino
Anna joined the staff as Technical Services Assistant on July 19; she was midway through her fourth summer working
as a student assistant when a full-time staff position became available. Anna's primary responsibility is the
management of the library's serials subscriptions: these include all manner of journals, magazines, newspapers,
and other periodicals. Anna graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in May 2004, with a B. Music in
Music Performance (flute) and a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature. She has played flute and piccolo at the
Cockpit in the Court Summer Theatre for the past three years. In September Anna began a program at Catholic
University that will lead to a masters in library science. Not only is Anna very familiar with the library from her
summers (and winter breaks) working here, she has another tie to the Loyola/Notre Dame community: her father,
Alfred D'Agostino, is Associate Professor of Chemistry at the College of Notre Dame.

Maura Dechtiaruk
Maura began work as Cataloging Assistant in the Technical Services
Department on August 30. Maura is also no stranger to the Loyola/Notre
Dame community: she received a B.A. in Art History and Studio
Art from The College of Notre Dame in 1997 and worked as a part-time
reference assistant at the library from 1997 to 2002. Maura
has additional experience working in the libraries at the Walters
Art Museum and Maryland Institute College of Art. In her spare
time Maura enjoys drawing racehorses and rock painting.

John Breitmeyer
John began work as Reference/Instruction Librarian on October 11. Originally from Michigan, John earned a B.A. in
English from Michigan State University in 1990. After working as a freelance editor and writer, he taught high school
English in Texas for two years and subsequently earned an M.A. in English at the University of New Orleans. Following
this, John did graduate work in linguistics before deciding to pursue a career as a librarian. He earned an MLIS from
the University of South Carolina in 2004; while in the masters program he worked at the USC Science Library for two
years. John enjoys seeing live music (jazz and rock) and cooking. His wife, Regina, and their two children (son
Maxwell, 4, and daughter Hannah, born September 30) will be moving to the Baltimore area very shortly.

Allen Norris
Allen is the newest full-time member of the library staff, having started November 15 as a member of the Maintenance
Department. Allen has been working for the library as a part-time building attendant since August 2003. He has also
worked for the food service at the College of Notre Dame. In his spare time Allen enjoys following baseball and
football, as well as working around his house and garden. Allen's sister Denise Norris has been on the library staff
since 1974.
