Vol. 3, No. 1 Fall 2005

John Breitmeyer, Reference Librarian
Have you been wandering in the desert
when it comes to Old Testament scholarship? Are you looking for
the promised land of citations and full-text links to Old Testament
research? LNDL has acquired Old Testament Abstracts (OTA) for
its biblical researchers.
OTA is the product of a partnership between ATLA and the Catholic
Biblical Association. The database has indexing and abstracts
for journal articles, monographs, multi-author works, and software
related to Old Testament studies. Content from over 450 journals
is covered. OTA is currently available through EBSCO, which means
that searches in OTA can be combined with searches in either Catholic
Periodical & Literature Index or ATLA Religion Database or
both.
All abstracts are in English, regardless of the language of the
original work. Topics covered include antiquities, archaeology,
biblical theology, philology, and much more. Coverage in the database
dates back to 1978. Acquisition of OTA represents a significant
increase in theological resources for LNDL's researchers.
