A citation is a reference to a source that includes relevant details about that source, such as
author, title, date and other facts. Citations can occur in text, e.g. (Denton, 1997), or at the end of a document in a more complete form called a bibliography or works cited list. An example (in APA style) of a more complete citation might look like this:
Denton, J. (1997). Character and moral development. Namta Journal,
22(2), 111-116.
Citations in databases such as Academic Search Premier generally have all the elements a complete citation would require, but they do not conform to the sequence and format required by APA, MLA, or other arbiters of citation styles. Consult style guides as necessary when placing citations in your own documents.
