Literature Resource Center (LRC)
contains full-text content including literary criticism, biographies,
bibliographies, work overviews and explications, Web sites, and
periodical articles.
To use LRC:
- Go to the Library homepage (www.loyola.edu/library).
- Click on English/Literature
from the "Resources by Subject" box on the
left-hand side of the page.
- Click on Literature
Resource Center (under "reference sources").
- The search screen
is set to a default Author search. To do a different
kind of search, such as Title or Subject, click
on the appropriate link under "Other Searches."
Click on Advanced Search to do a combination search.
- In the Advanced
Search mode, click on the drop-down box to select the type
of search you want to do, then type what you are looking for
in the blank box. For example: to look for articles
on "the theme of race in Huckleberry Finn," type "Huckleberry
Finn" in the first box and change the drop-down box
to "Title -- All Words." On the second line,
type "race" and change the drop-down box to
"Keyword." Then click on "Search."
- Click on the labeled
tabs that come up with your results to view Biographies,
full-text Criticism, Articles, and Work Overviews, Bibliographies,
Additional Resources or Literary-Historical Timelines. (If
a tab does not light up when you put the mouse over it, then
there were no items retrieved in that category.)
- To view the full
record of a specific item from your list of results, click on
the linked title.
- Print or E-mail using the
icons at the top left of the page (only visible once you've
clicked on a specific item).
