Director’s Report On Building Progress

The Library building project continues to move forward as the Hillier Group and the Probst-Mason architects finish up the programming for all the spaces in the addition and the renovated building. The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company of Baltimore has been hired to manage the construction process. The schedule holds for the Library to start construction in the summer of 2005.

One of the key elements determining the success of the building project will be the comfort and utility of the new furniture in the public spaces where students and faculty will work on research, relax reading, view and listen to media. In order to gauge the comfort and adaptability of different furniture designs and styles, the library will display various samples of chairs, which have the potential for being purchased for the new building. The library administration welcomes feedback from students and faculty input on the comfort, utility and style of these different pieces of furniture. The chairs will be available for testing and a sheet for your comments near the new book shelf, behind the attendant’s desk as you enter the library.

The updated library plans will be available for your perusal in the same area.
