Mandatory Sessions

Orientation is an important part of transitioning to life at Loyola.  Therefore, we have a number of sessions that will be mandatory for all first-year students to attend.  The following will highlight those sessions for you:

New Student Convocation - when the class is intruduced and inducted into the Loyola University Maryland community.

Common Text Discussion/Core Advisor Meeting - a chance to meet with your advisor and other classmates to talk about The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, this year's common text.

Academic Information Sessions - students are expected to attend two sessions, which is a time to learn more about the academic life at Loyola and different keys to succeeding.

Transition and Extracurricular Sessions - this is a chance to learn about life outside the classroom.  Students are expected to attend four sessions, including "Community and Safety at Loyola".  All sessions are designed to help students understand how to transition to college life, as well as living in Baltimore.

Student-to-Student Panels - these panels are designed to give you a different perspective on life at Loyola from current students.  The panels will highlight diversity at Loyola as well as other relevant issues college students are dealing with today.
