Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation

Sheri Parks, Ph.D., associate professor of American studies and the Honors College at the University of Maryland, College Park, and author of Fierce Angels: The Strong Black Woman in American Life and Culture, will deliver the 19th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation Address on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Loyola University Maryland.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. in McGuire Hall on Loyola’s North Charles Street campus. The keynote address will be followed by a question-and-answer session, book-signing, and reception.

Loyola has sponsored a Martin Luther King, Jr., Convocation since 1993. Previous speakers include filmmaker Spike Lee, University of Pennsylvania professor Michael Eric Dyson, singer Bernice Johnson Reagon, and writer Octavia Butler.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.
