The Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship Foundation was established in 2001 and bears the name of its benefactor. The Foundation provides scholarships to students in high school, those transferring from 2-year colleges to 4-year colleges or universities, as well as those interested in pursuing studies beyond the undergraduate level. Approximately 75 graduate scholarships are awarded throughout the country to students who will be beginning full-time graduate study in a variety of disciplines. Graduate scholarships may be awarded to students currently enrolled in their senior year of undergraduate study or those who have graduated within 5 years. Students applying for this award must have been accepted into a full-time graduate program by an accredited university, or will have received acceptance by the application deadline of March 15. Scholarship applicants are also required to have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 during their undergraduate studies. Students awarded the Cooke Scholarship will receive funding for tuition, school costs, room and board, and other relevant expenses. Actual scholarship amounts will vary, with the maximum allotment equaling $50,000 per year. Scholarships are awarded for the length of graduate study, although this may not exceed 6 years. Applicants for the Cooke Graduate Scholarships must be nominated by the Jack Kent Cooke Faculty Representative of their undergraduate institution. Each school may nominate up to 2 applicants during this process, which does not allow for direct application by students themselves. Information regarding Loyola's faculty representative is listed below. Application materials may be found on the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Web Site and are due by March 15. Applications must be received for review and endorsement prior to the national deadline of March 15. Completed applications must be submitted to the Loyola National Fellowships Office by February 1.
