Loyola University Maryland

Marshall Scholarship

Overview:  Originally established in 1953 by an act of the British Parliament, Marshall Scholarships provide American students with the opportunity to study at several different universities throughout the United Kingdom.  Selection is made on a regional basis, with 40 awards divided among students throughout the United States.

Eligibility:  Marshall Scholarships may be given to United States citizens who will have obtained their bachelor's degree from a 4-year U.S. college or university by the time that they will receive scholarship funding. Students are required to have maintained a 3.7 GPA throughout their undergraduate studies. The Scholarships are open to students interested in all areas of study.

Value:  Marshall Scholarships cover all costs related to tuition, school, living, and travel expenses.  The awards are limited to two years of study, although extensions through a third year may be granted upon review by the scholarship commission.

Application:  Scholarship selections are regionally based.  Applicants may apply in either the region in which they live or that in which they attend school.  Application materials can be found on the Marshall Scholarship Web Site, and are due by October 1 of the graduating year.

Deadline:  Applications must be received for review and endorsement prior to the national deadline of October 4.
