The NCAA has established a number of scholarships to promote the academic success of collegiate student-athletes throughout the country. These awards take on many forms as they provide financial support relevant to a wide variation of achievement, interest, and goals. The eligibility requirements of the various NCAA scholarships vary considerably. Click on the name of each scholarship below for more comprehensive information. Walter Byers Scholarship Program- Recipients of this award are selected based upon academic achievement and the potential for success in graduate school. NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship- 174 scholarships are awarded annually to students who have excelled both academically and athletically and who wish to continue their education at the graduate level. Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Scholarships- Established to provide postgraduate funding to ethnic minority and female student-athletes, this scholarship is applicable for students interested in careers related to intercollegiate athletics. The Freedom Forum-NCAA Sports-Journalism Scholarship Program- This award provides funding to students in their junior year of undergraduate study. Students must express interest in sports journalism or have had relevant experience. The value and duration of financial support differs among these awards.
