Created to provide funding for students studying abroad, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships are awarded by individual Rotary Clubs throughout the United States. Three levels of scholarship are offered, with the most common type providing one academic year's worth of financial support. Rotary Scholarships may be awarded to citizens of any country in which Rotary Clubs are found. Students must have completed 2 years of college-level course work before receiving scholarship funding and must be fluent in the language of their proposed host country. One-year Rotary Scholarships cover all costs related to tuition, living, and travel expenses up to $25,000. These awards are limited to one academic year of study. Students interested in pursing a Rotary Scholarship must apply directly to their local Rotary Club. Applications may be received by clubs located near the student's place of permanent residence or near their place of full-time study. Scholarship availability and application timelines vary from location to location, and therefore, contact with one's local Rotary Club is suggested. Application due dates vary by Rotary district. Rotary District 7620, comprised of 67 clubs in Maryland and Washington, DC, has a deadline of July for completed scholarship applications.
