Loyola student Kevin Smith, ’09, was interviewed by WYPR’s Aaron Henkin on “The Signal” regarding his exhibit of scientific portraits that were recently on display at Studio 1448 in East Baltimore. An interdisciplinary biology and fine arts major, Smith enjoys the “sciencey” elements of photography, including how light impacts the images he captures and the actual development of the film. Smith takes pictures at the microscopic level and often finds similarities among seemingly dissimilar objects. He also tries to emphasize the beauty of subjects that are not traditionally viewed as beautiful. To listen to the interview, visit the WYPR Web site.
