John Hanrahan, ’09, was recently featured in a Baltimore Business Journal article about college students who are choosing to study abroad in Latin America and Asia rather than Western Europe. The experience increases a student’s fluency in languages such as Spanish and Mandarin, as well as broadens their cultural exposure, giving students—particularly those pursuing a career in business—an advantage in the workforce. Hanrahan spent his junior year of college studying abroad in Beijing, where he became fluent in Mandarin. He is one of 25-30 Loyola students who study abroad in China each year.
