Loyola Hosts 2nd Annual Athlete Performance Conference

Loyola College in Maryland will welcome as many as 300 high school and college strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, personal trainers and fitness enthusiasts for a two-day conference on Friday and Saturday, July 18 and19.

The Strength and Conditioning/Athlete Performance Conference, sponsored by Fusion Sport, has been developed by Robert Taylor, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Loyola Greyhounds. Coach Taylor has combined classroom presentations and on-field demonstrations designed to help educate and inform participants in many aspects of strength and conditioning, rehabilitating athletes, sports nutrition and recovery techniques.

“As athletics become increasingly competitive at all levels, a properly designed strength and conditioning program is crucial to the success of any athlete or team,” says Taylor, who, along with representatives from 13 NCAA Division I programs and other presenters from the athletic performance field, will discuss strategies for improving and enhancing successful sport-specific and individual training needs, with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.

In addition to lead sponsor Fusion Sport, an Australian sports technology company, other companies in attendance at the conference include PowerCranks, Polar Electro, Woodway, Power Systems, Perform Better, Fitness Resource, Egg Whites International and CytoSport, which will provide products for breakfast and lunch. Bill Jacobs, Michelle Rockwell, and Anne Sweeney have also made generous contributions to this year’s conference.

This year’s conference has been recognized by the National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA) as its national conference. Participants are eligible for continuing education credits from the NSPA and other organizations, including the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and National Athletic Trainers’ Association.

The cost for the two-day workshop is $100 ($50 for students), $25 of which will be donated to the Jason Hadeed Children’s Fund. The fund benefits the children of Jason Hadeed, a coach who presented at last year's conference and a friend of many of its participants. Hadeed was killed in a shooting in his Rockville neighborhood in February. For more information on the children’s fund, the conference, or to register, please visit www.nspainc.com or call 410-617-5372.
