Loyola’s department of pastoral counseling will celebrate Counseling Awareness Month in April with three clinical workshops geared toward helping those close to graduation or recently graduated as counselors to better establish themselves in the field. The workshops will be held at Loyola’s Columbia Graduate Center, located at 8890 McGaw Road. The workshops include: Setting up a Private Practice: The Nuts & Bolts and Dos & Don’ts Part I - Wednesday, April 15 Part II - Wednesday, April 29 1-2 p.m. Room 363 The workshop, presented by John McLaughlin, Ph.D., an affiliate pastoral counseling professor at Loyola, will cover insurance liability, establishing partnerships, opening and closing an office, and fee setting and billing. Seek & Ye Shall Find: Employment Strategies for the Pastoral Counseling Grad Wednesday, April 29 6-7 p.m. Room 361 The workshop, presented by Lakeisha Mathews, assistant director of career services at Loyola, will include information on accessing pastoral counseling employment Web sites, resume review, marketing and promotion, and salary negotiation. Professional Words of Wisdom: Advice from Recent Pastoral Counseling Graduates Thursday, April 30 1-2 p.m. Room 363 Pastoral counseling graduates will discuss applying for Maryland LGPC and LCPC licensure, securing supervised clinical experience after earning a masters degree, and networking.
