Loyola will welcome author Peter Cameron on Thursday, April 16 as part of its Modern Masters Reading Series. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place at 5 p.m. in the 4th Floor Program Room in the Andrew White Student Center on the North Charles Street campus. Cameron is the author of several short story collections and novels including One Way or Another (1986), awarded a Special Citation by the PEN/Hemingway Award for First Book of Fiction; Leap Year (1989); Far-flung (1991); The Weekend (1994) which was adapted into a film written and directed by Brian Skeet starring Gena Rowlands and Brooke Shields; Andorra (1997); The City of Your Final Destination (2002); and Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You (2007), a finalist for the 2008 Lambda Literary Award. A fellow at the MacDowell Colony, he has taught at Oberlin College, Columbia University’s Graduate School of the Arts, Sarah Lawrence College and Yale University. He lives in New York City. An annual program, the Modern Masters Reading Series is sponsored by Loyola’s Center for the Humanities. Cameron is the last of six speakers to appear for the 2008-2009 academic year.
