Pre-Fall Orientation Experience

New skills. New ideas.

New thoughts. New friendships.

You will discover all of these and more throughout your years at Loyola. Loyola’s Pre Fall orientation experience, offers you the opportunity to jump right in with one of six programs. From outdoor experience to service immersion, you can explore some of the exciting aspects of Loyola and its surrounding community.

As a participant in a Pre Fall program, you will meet a variety of people who share similar interests. You will get to know fellow students and spend time with Loyola administrators and faculty outside the office or classroom. If you are a resident student, you also will have the benefit of moving into your new residence before you begin your pre fall program. We challenge you to take this opportunity to meet new people and acquire new skills. Whatever your interests, Loyola offers a program that is right for you.

Registration for each of these programs will occur between May 17 and July 17.  Many of these programs fill quite quickly.  To ensure fairness for all students we will not accept applicants until that time.  Beginning on May 17 you may come back to this page to find an online registration form.

MAP (Multicultural Awareness Program)

MAP is designed to assist first-year ALANA (African, Latino, Asian, & Native American) students in acclimating to campus life at Loyola.  Specific objectives of the program are academic enhancement, intercultural exploration, social adjustment, and service to others.

Outdoor Adventure

Outdoor Adventures is a multi-day wilderness excursion that will allow incoming first-year students to make lasting friendships, ease the transition to college life, and have fun with new experiences and activities while backpacking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking, or canoeing. It will also introduce students to the world of Outdoor Adventure Experience (OAE), a program within the Department of Recreational Sports.

Student Orientation to Service (S.O.S)

Student Orientation to Service (S.O.S.) is a unique service and educational opportunity in which a small group of incoming students, student leaders, and two administrators explore the issues, concerns, and realities of people who are materially poor and/or homeless in Baltimore City.

Connections

Spirituality is about connection…connection with self, peers, the wider community, and God.  Campus Ministry is pleased to offer Connections, a Pre-Orientation program that offers students exactly what the title suggests.

Pathways to Peer Leadership

Pathways to Peer Leadership is designed for first year students to start off their Loyola career as leaders, while acclimating to the Loyola and Baltimore Community. Pathways to Peer Leadership is a certification training program which trains the principles of peer education, listening skills, responding and referral skills, confrontation skills, presenting and programming skills and taking care of yourself.

Strategies for Success

Strategies for Success is a one-day pre-orientation workshop offered for incoming freshmen with disabilities.  The workshop is geared towards their transition to college and identifying the supports Loyola has to assist them.
