Printing

Shared Printer Access
Most departments at Loyola use shared network laser printers. These printers are substantially cheaper per page, faster, and print in better quality than a local printer that is hooked up to only one computer. The ability to print to a shared printer is set up in Active Directory. Requests for access to a shared departmental printer can be processed by calling the Office of Technology Support at x5555 or by emailing ots@loyola.edu. You will be asked to provide the username of the person needing access, the name of the shared printer, and the username of someone who already has access to that printer.

Printing from Colleague
Install PrintKey 2000 – Refer to Colleague Intro Manual, provided at the Colleague Orientation session or call the OTS at ext 5555

Printing in a lab.
Follow these steps to print in a Loyola lab:

  • Send the print job to the printer as you normally would
  • After sending, you must use your Evergreen Card and swipe the card reader to release your print job to the printer.
  • Click Release
  • The document is now printing to the default lab printer.

Printing from your desktop.
When ready to print, choose the application’s print icon, or choose the appropriate menu option for the software that you are using.

  • Verify that the correct printer name is displayed in the Name drop down list box and is the printer you want to print to.
  • If not, scroll the list of installed printers and choose the correct one.
  • Once the printer is showing in the "Name box" you can click OK.
  • Your job should now be printing.

What if my printer isn't working?
Contact Office of Technology Support at ext 5555 or via email ots@loyola.edu.  Please include the location of the printer, the name/type of printer (affixed to the outside of the printer) and a brief description of the problem.
