CACREP

The Masters of Science program is accredited by the American Counseling Association's accrediting arm CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) under the Community Counseling Standards and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC). Because the Loyola Pastoral Counseling M.S. program has been accredited by CACREP since 1989, Master’s of Science students are entitled to apply to sit for the National Counselor Examination (NCE) when all eligibility requirements have been met.

AAPC accreditation allows students and graduates of the program to be eligible for membership in AAPC. For more information about AAPC membership, please visit their website.

At the end of the Spring 2005 semester, it was determined that the faculty and administration would embark on a process to investigate the possibility of CACREP accreditation for the Ph.D. program in Pastoral Counseling.  In January 2008, CACREP accredited the doctoral program as a "Counselor Education and Supervision" program. This accreditation represents the culmination of three years of work by the department to enhance the program and meet CACREP standards.
