Campus and Community

The Pastoral Counseling programs are based out of Loyola College’s Columbia Graduate Center in Columbia, MD. Columbia is located in Howard County, Maryland and is considered a suburb of both Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. Its central location is ideal for students wishing to commute from both metropolitan centers and their surrounding areas. For more information about Howard County including relocating information, please click here.

Located in the Columbia Gateway Business Park, the Columbia Campus is located near major retail outlets and is walking distance to numerous eateries that add to the convenience of the location. The campus consists of a three story building located near a small pond and houses the administrative offices for the Pastoral Counseling Department, Speech-Language Pathology Department and Loyola’s Montessori School program.  Loyola’s Business Programs, Psychology Department, Computer Science Department and Education Department also use the instructional space for their course offerings as well. Students will find that even tough the Columbia campus is located approximately 20 miles from Loyola’s Evergreen (Main) Campus, nearly all services, including library, bookstore, and computer labs, are available to them at the Columbia campus.

All classrooms at Columbia have Integrated Presentation Technology systems that project multimedia images from a ceiling LCD projector onto an electronically operated projection screen. This technology provides a comfortable learning environment for our students and provides them with the absolute best in instructional services. At times, it may be necessary for students to become comfortable with the technology in order to present class and group work. Once orientated to the equipment, students are able to creatively approach course assignments and create professional presentations that may aid in their professional and academic development.

For more information about the Columbia Graduate Center, including ID card services and Loyola-Notre Dame Library resources, please visit the Columbia Graduate Center website.
