Commitment to Ecumenicalism
Among the faculty, staff and students there is a broad range of world religions, Christian denominations, and religious philosophies represented. The Pastoral Counseling Department is committed to meeting the needs of people through a greater understanding of the vast array of religious experiences that are represented in the world today. The focus on spiritual issues is woven throughout the program. The ecumenically diverse faculty of clergy, professed religious, and laity is deeply interested in the integration of spirituality and clinical practice. Students select the Loyola program primarily because of its efforts to address the pastoral and spiritual dimensions at the same time that it offers a broad-based counseling curriculum and strong clinical program. Consequently, spiritual issues are spontaneously and routinely addressed in individual supervision and clinical case supervision as case presentations are reviewed. Addressing pastoral and spiritual considerations is built into the expectations of the various supervisory formats. Please also see how spirituality is integrated into the program by clicking here.
