Committment to Empowerment
Over half of the student population are women and lay persons who are provided with knowledge, credentials, and access to becoming part of pastoral and clinical teams. Most people within the department are not looking to enter into full time professional ministry; however the degrees in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care have provided graduates with a vast array of lay ministry opportunities within their local churches, synagogues, and houses of worship. These opportunities have opened the door to our graduates being able to take leadership roles within their local community of believers and have advanced their particular movements understanding and use of the helping professions, especially the role of licensed clinical practitioners within a given community.
