CACREP

The pastoral counseling department held a memorial service for Dr. Kelly Murray on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at Loyola's Columbia Graduate Center. Faculty, staff, alumni, and students paid tribute to Dr. Murray through word, song, and memorial presentations. In addition to the planting of a dogwood tree near the Graduate Center's pond, Fr. Kevin Gillespie, Chair, announced that a memorial scholarship fund has been set up in Kelly's memory.

In addition, many have asked about tangible ways to assist the Murray family. As of this announcement, more than 520 people signed onto a Web site, www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/615521, that helps organize various opportunities to help the family through at least the end of the next school year in June 2010. These opportunities include bringing the family dinners, organizing housecleaning services and donating to the Murray Girl's Education Fund.

So far, the Web site has generated enough support that the family's housekeeping and meal needs have been met through May, 2010. Visitors to the site can look at calendars and see which tasks and days the Murray family needs help.

For those of the community that were not able to attend the service, we would like to share the Memorial Program/Booklet, a copy of the PowerPoint presentation that was shown in the background of the service, and a booklet entitled, Mommy's Door. Mommy's Door was presented to the Murray Family on behalf of the Pastoral Counseling department and displays images of Kelly's daughter's artwork that adorned her office door and spoke of Kelly's love and devotion for family.
