    Scholarly Interests:

    Scholarly interests include factors affecting psychotherapy duration and outcome, ethics and
    professional issues (particularly managed care and supervision), crisis intervention, and
    instrument development. Current ongoing research projects include evaluation of levels
    of well-being, psychological symptoms, and life functioning for various populations.

    Kopta, S. M., & Lowry, J. L.  Psychotherapy Outcome Assessment and Monitoring System
    (POAMS
    ®; 1997, copyright) and Behavioral Health Measure-20 (2000, copyright).
    Comprehensive assessment instruments, based on the Phase Model of Psychotherapy,
    designed to track patient
    progress in treatment. Factors assessed include readiness for
    treatment, well-being, psychological symptoms, life functioning, therapeutic bond, and
    treatment satisfaction. Normative data are available for college students, college counseling
    clients, adult outpatients, community-adults, and trauma survivors.
