 | | | The 2006 Fall Semester saw a continuation of a high level of participation yet again. The team consisted of one squad of fifteen girls with a final record of 8-8 in league play. Competing against larger schools such as Duke University and University of North Carolina, the team was able to hold their own and put up great competition. In addition to league competition, they also scrimmaged Hagerstown Community College twice during the fall semester. Although the team came up short in the East Coast Women’s Club Basketball Championship held at UMD, they were pleased with the effort.
The 2007 Spring Semester was a continuing success. The team traveled to Atlantic Cape Community College back in February, but came up short in the Championship game. Later in March, they competed in the NIRSA Regional Tournament held at Boston University and brought home the championship trophy after putting forth their great effort. This was a great way to finish off their season, especially for the seniors. Later that month, a small group from the team traveled to Ohio to compete in the NIRSA National Tournament, but unfortunately came up short despite their hard work and dedication. Those group of girls truly represented Loyola in an unprecedented way. Although the Women’s Club Basketball Team lost a few key players last year, they were fortunate enough to have four returning seniors and one returning junior step up to the plate. Club officers Katie Chambers, Nicole Charette, Caitlin Costaney, Ashley Northrup, and Andie Synborksi have led this team to its continuing success. They continued to work well together especially with the incoming Freshmen and Sophomores extreme dedication and talent they brought to the team. |
