Outdoor Adventures Pre-Orientation 2009 Explore! Challenge Yourself! Learn! Whether you participate in one of our many trips into the great outdoors, climb The Rock, or let us help you plan your own outing excursion using the resources in our Outdoor Center (Basecamp), Outdoor Adventures offers many exciting opportunities for YOU and your friends! Tap into Outdoor Adventures vast resources and staff expertise to learn more about camping, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, and caving. We invite participation in our larger scale trips such as Exploration, a wilderness-based pre-orientation activity for incoming freshman.
Outdoor Adventures is made up of three different parts, each unique in its own way: OAE - a group of 23 volunteer student leaders who lead all Exploration trips and weekends trip offered throughout the school year. These leaders have over 800 hours of training in backcountry living skills, risk management, and group dynamics. Each OAE leader is a Wilderness First Responder and specializes in one or more of the backcountry activities we offer. Click on the logo above for leader and trip info! Rock Wall- the Rock Wall staff work at the Rock in the FAC. They set routes, manage the wall, plan and participate in climbing competitions and bring Reel Rock Film Festival to Loyola. They are passionate about climbing and want to share their love for it with anyone willing to try! Click on The Rock for Rock Wall Information! Basecamp - Also known as the OAC but more commonly, Basecamp, is a place for anyone who wants to sign up for a trip, read a book from our library, or reserve gear! Located by the raquetball courts in the FAC, Basecamp employees are here to help you with anything related to the outdoors. Click on the logo above for Rental Information!
