What online technology will I need to use?

Inside Loyola  is the one-stop portal used to access all Loyola online services from a web browser. You will login with your user name and password. If you need help with these, please contact Technology Services at 410-617-5555 or ots@loyola.edu. From this site, you can access Loyola news, email, Web Advisor, and Moodle. Web Advisor is the administrative system used for making payments, checking grades, etc. Moodle is Loyola's course management system and is used to communicate course materials from professors via the My Classes section of your Inside Loyola homepage.

What is Moodle?

The word Moodle is an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. Moodle is an open source Learning Management System (LMS). It allows instructors to easily post course information, hold class discussions, communicate with students, and administer online exams. In Moodle, students are enrolled automatically in their courses once they have completed the registration process. To access a Moodle course go to Inside Loyola and click on your course underneath My Classes on the top right.

The Executive and Graduate Business Programs Office has a Moodle page, "Executive/Fellows Info," for you to access a variety of program information for the Executive MBA, as well as, additional information from Loyola's student support offices. This page will be added to your account in August.

How do I make my tuition payment?

In WebAdvisor, you will be required to select a method of payment: check, credit card, loans, etc. On July 1, 2011, the University instituted a 2.5% convenience fee for credit card payments for tuition and fees. We will continue to accept MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Please refer to your billing schedule for your payment amount. If you are interested in payment plans, they will now be administered by Tuition Management Systems (TMS) and are available for the spring and fall semesters. How do I get a payment receipt?

Online official payment receipt printing is available through WebAdvisor. For any additional account/payment questions, please contact the Student Administrative Services office at 410-617-5047

How will I receive ongoing communications from Loyola?

Throughout the semester, email messages announcing upcoming events, schedule information, etc., are sent to all students to your loyola.edu address. If you have forwarded your loyola.edu mail to your work or home email, please be sure the messages are able to get through any firewalls or spam blockers. Professors may post important information for students on Moodle prior to the start of the class, so be sure to monitor this.

What technical and computer competencies are required?

Courses in the MBA programs use computer software for presentations and analysis. Students can expect to receive assignments using Excel spreadsheets, and they may also be required to employ specialized software, CD or online databases, or mainframe systems. Students should be confident in their ability to design and manipulate spreadsheets and be familiar with word processing and presentation software. Introductory and advanced help courses are offered without charge through Technology Services: see the Help and How-to section of www.loyola.edu/ots/. Online services, available through the University's computing facilities, are generally user-friendly and can be accessed by individuals without extensive background.
