March 10, 2011
Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management ranked No. 45 in the nation in BusinessWeek magazine’s fifth annual “2011 Best Undergrad B-Schools.”
The Sellinger School came in at No. 26 in academic quality, No. 36 in student satisfaction, and received an “A” in teaching quality and “A+” in facility quality. This year’s ranking considered 139 schools, three more than last year.
“I am delighted that the Sellinger School is consistently recognized among the nation’s most respected schools of business,” said Karyl B. Leggio, Ph.D., dean of the Sellinger School. "We take great pride in our students’ positive experiences, and will continue to work with local business partners, board members, and our Career Center to improve outcomes for our students.”
Also included in the ranking were the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, the University of California Berkley’s Haas School of Business, and Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza School of Business ranked No. 1.
BusinessWeek’s analysis focused on academic quality, post-graduation outcomes, and student satisfaction using nine distinct measures to evaluate undergraduate business programs, including surveys of more than 86,000 students majoring in business and more than 775 corporate recruiters; the median starting salaries for graduates; and the number of graduates attending prominent graduate schools of business. In the feedback collected from the student satisfaction survey, students noted the emphasis on values and ethics, their strong connection with peers and the Loyola community, and the access to faculty and networking opportunities as positive experiences.
