May 13, 2011

Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management will, beginning in September 2011, collaborate with Leadership Howard County’s on Leadership Essentials—a six-month leadership development program for emerging professionals.

The partnership aims to help the program, which was launched in 2007 and has served more than 100 people, grow and evolve. The program’s future classes will be offered at Loyola’s Graduate Center—Columbia Campus.

Both Loyola and Leadership Howard County have a rich history of developing leaders with a strong commitment to building and transforming their communities. Loyola began offering graduate business programs at its Columbia, Md. campus more than 30 years ago and Leadership Howard County has been offering development programs in the area since 1986. The two organizations have previously worked closely with one another on networking events and community development initiatives. With this partnership, Leadership Essentials will continue to build on its core program of skill building, personal coaching, and direct community service.

“Loyola’s commitment to educational excellence in Howard County and its support of and involvement with Leadership Howard County dates back more than a decade,” said Karyl B. Leggio, Ph.D., dean of the Sellinger School. “With our shared vision and dedication to developing outstanding leaders, the resources we have to offer Howard County as one of the region’s leading business schools, and the location of our Columbia campus, this affiliation is an ideal opportunity for both Loyola and Leadership Howard County.”
