
Sellinger School Business Leader of the Year Award honors George Roche of T. Rowe Price George A. Roche, chairman and president of T. Rowe Price, has been named the 2005 recipient of The Sellinger School of Business and Management Business Leader of the Year Award. Roche will accept the award at a Thursday, Nov. 17 dinner at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel. The reception begins at 5:45 p.m., with the award dinner following at 7 p.m. “Mr. Roche’s stewardship of this successful, Baltimore-based company, his service to numerous civic, philanthropic and community organizations, and his deep commitment to ethics and integrity exemplify the ideal of corporate leadership,” says College President Brian Linnane, S.J. Roche joined T. Rowe Price in 1968, serving as an analyst, fund manager and chief financial officer before assuming the roles of chairman and president in 1997. Since then, he has led the management through a period of growth while preserving the company’s core values of outstanding customer service and ethical practice. Today, T. Rowe Price has a company-record $244.8 billion in assets under management. Its consistent investment philosophy and emphasis on proprietary research has been reflecting in its outstanding investment results for its clients. In addition to his professional attainments, Roche serves on the boards of the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Downtown Partnership. His past board memberships include the Enoch Pratt Library, the Walters Art Museum and the Roland Park Country School. He earned an A.B. from Georgetown University in 1963 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1966. The Sellinger School has honored a Business Leader of the Year since 1983, recognizing those whose vision, dedicated effort and singular commitment to the highest ideals of business have distinguished them and their organizations as among the very best in the nation.
