Sellinger School Named One of Nation's Top 50 Undergraduate Business Programs

Loyola College in Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business and Management has been ranked number 45 in BusinessWeek magazine’s third annual “Best Undergrad B-Schools” survey. More than 125 schools were eligible for inclusion in the rankings.

"I am delighted that the Sellinger School's outstanding curriculum and student outcomes have been honored alongside those of many of the nation's most respected schools of business," said Loyola College President Brian Linnane, S.J. "Our inclusion in this ranking further underscores the value of Loyola's business programs and our contribution to the business communities in Baltimore and beyond."

For Lee Dahringer, dean of The Sellinger School, the BusinessWeek honor represents a validation of the School’s emphasis on providing its students with well-rounded, cutting-edge programs that reflect the challenges of today’s business environment.

“The Sellinger School and its faculty are committed to providing a business education, grounded in the Jesuit liberal arts tradition, that prepares Loyola’s students to become effective leaders in our rapidly changing world,” said Dahringer. “This commitment is demonstrated in a wide variety of ways, most notably in our 'experiential learning' component, which requires undergraduate business students to complete at least two of three options in international study, internship or service-learning.”

BusinessWeek uses nine distinct measures to evaluate undergraduate business programs, including surveys of more than 80,000 students majoring in business and more than 600 corporate recruiters; the median starting salaries for graduates; and the number of graduates each undergraduate programs sends on to prominent graduate schools of business. Loyola’s Sellinger School was not ranked in last year’s survey.

The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School maintained its first place ranking for the third year in a row. A complete list of the magazine’s 2008 rankings is available in the March 10 issue, available on newsstands now.
