Spotlight
Manette Frese, director of the Executive MBA Programs, feels passionately about her job in a way that many people never experience and she considers herself very fortunate. “I love my job. I work for a great institution and every day I connect on a personal level with the top talent and leadership of the Baltimore/Washington business community who are working to make themselves better.”

It’s this attention to personal service that Frese feels sets Loyola’s MBA programs apart from graduate studies at other institutions. Phone calls are returned, faculty are very available and classes are small, rigorous and student-centered. Executive MBA students are recruited one by one, forming cohorts that have their own dynamic and yet are representative of the region’s best.

“My favorite day of the year is the first day of classes,” she says. “Individually, the students are all very hard working, bright and dedicated to self-improvement and it’s thrilling to see how the group comes together in its own unique way.”

An alumna of Loyola’s MBA program herself, Frese credits her graduate studies with introducing her to the art and science of leadership. Through the program, she learned that in order to be truly successful it’s not enough to be smart. “Looking at an organization from a 10,000 foot view allows a strategic perspective that is invaluable. In order to be a true leader, you must also be fair, devoted to life-long learning and a person of integrity.”
