Mr. Eakes is the Vice President of Finance at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. Tracking numbers for a highly competitive global asset management company is challenging in itself, but Brian Eakes wanted to do more. He did not just want to account for where the company had been; he wanted a hand in deciding where it should go in the future. That desire led him to Loyola. There he found an MBA program “with a focus on management and leadership that rises about nuts-and-bolts tactics, enabling me to concentrate on the strategic implications of my business skills.” Today, he’s putting the big-picture perspective to work as a controller of the company’s Asset Management Division. And thanks in part to the management skills he learned at Loyola, he’s chairing a newly formed Development Committee that tracks the Finance Department team members’ performance, reports on progress and sets goals for its employees.
