Bio

Carol Hicks is the Director of Training at the Elementary level at the Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola University, MD. Carol holds diplomas at both the elementary and primary levels from the Association Montessori Internationale. She has a B.A. in history with a minor in elementary education from Marquette University and a M.Ed in Montessori Education from Loyola University Maryland. Carol is an AMI Elementary School Consultant and Examiner, and is past chair of the AMI Elementary Alumni Association. She has fourteen years of teaching experience at the elementary level in both public and private Montessori schools and served eight years as a program coordinator in the Milwaukee Public Schools.  Carol mentored new Montessori teachers in a program that allowed them to receive state certification.  She joined the Washington Montessori Institute at Loyola in 2012.

Carol has presented workshops at Montessori conferences in the United States as well as internationally.  She is one of a team training elementary Montessori teachers in Thailand.  She serves on the AMI Scientific Pedagogical Committee, a committee that oversees the pedagogical practices of the AMI training centers throughout the world.
