She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Literacy Program, and is a Co-Director of the Institute for Literacy, Language, and Culture. Dr. Gallo-Fox studies both urban and suburban teachers' practices through a sociocultural lense. Her research program examines the process of teacher learning within the context of teachers' work, and seeks to understand the nature of teachers' practice and learning within the current political environment. Specifically, Dr. Gallo-Fox focuses on four overlapping areas: inservice and preservice teacher learning, literacy and coteaching. This work also connects to programmatic development and teacher educator learning within these fields. All of her research is situated within teacher practice and local and national contexts: culture, school setting and policy.
