Bio Jennifer Scaturo Watkinson is an assistant professor and co-program director of Loyola University’s School Counseling Program. Dr. Watkinson’s research examines school counseling leadership and the professional role identity of school counselors. Dr. Watkinson has presented nationally on topics such as visioning in school counseling, advocacy in teacher education and college access. Additionally, Dr. Watkinson works with local school systems to advance the training of practicing school counselors in the area of school counseling leadership and accountability. Prior to coming to Loyola, Dr. Watkinson has served as an elementary school counselor in Harford County Public Schools where was involved in county-wide service such as mentoring and curriculum design.
Research Interests Teaching and research interests include leadership in school counseling, systemic thinking applied to school counseling program implementation and an ecological approach to fostering social emotional development in children and adolescents.
