Loyola University Maryland

Department of Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology

Committee on Admission

There are a limited number of enrollments in the master's program, and admission is selective. The Graduate Admission Committee seeks students of high quality from accredited institutions of higher learning who ranked in the upper half of their classes as undergraduates and maintained a high cumulative average. A minimum of a B (3.000) cumulative average is expected. Confidential recommendations are also reviewed. Applicants must submit official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The Committee only reviews completed applications.

A completed application includes:

  • Completed/signed application form
  • Non-refundable $50 application fee
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended (official transcripts must show Fall grades, if applicable)
  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores sent directly from the Educational Testing Center. Loyola's C.E.E.B. code is 5370
  • Resume or vitae (please submit via e-mail to graduate@loyola.edu)
  • Essay responding to questions on application form
  • Three academic or professional references
  • Prerequisite Worksheet (required if you have not completed an undergraduate degree in SLP or CD)

The program is a two-year (five-semester), full-time program. All completed applications must be postmarked by February 1.

The Post-baccalaureate Cohort Foundation Program has the same application and admission requirements as noted for the graduate program and are also due by February 1. Please see the Foundation Program webpage for more information about our cohort and non-cohort options.

Admittance to the master's program or the Cohort Foundation Program in speech-language pathology is contingent upon passing a criminal background check. Each student recommended for admission into either program will be required to obtain, pay for, and pass a criminal background check. These background checks are routinely required by the Loyola Clinical Centers, schools, hospitals, and other agencies that participate in the clinical education of Loyola students. Failure to pass a criminal background check may make a student ineligible to complete requirements and result in revocation of the student's acceptance into the graduate program.

For specific admission policies and application procedures, please see the Graduate Admission webpage and the Financial Aid webpage
