Navy sinks Seadogs

Wednesday, January 29, 1997 -- The Loyola Women faced in-state foe Navy and dropped another difficult meet by a score of 167-128. The Hounds were focusing on swimming well in an effort to gain seed times for championships more than trying to defeat the talented depth of the squad from Annapolis. The meet marked the final home appearance by seniors Amy Cole, Pam O'Koren, Heather Langenberg, Alyssa Mugno, Jeanne McFadden, Jessica Osier, and Moria Byrne.

Cole had a strong meet, capturing the 50 and 100 meter freestyle. O'Koren also performed well, taking second in the 400 meter freestyle and third in the 800 meter free. Loyola's only first place finish was in the 100 meter backstroke, courtesy of Freshman Trista Baxter. Sophomore Star Moran and McFadden place second and third in the 100 meter breastroke. Moran also took second in the 200 meter breastroke. Langenberg placed third in the 100 meter butterfly.
