Hounds swim by Sharks; start spring semeter strongly

On Friday, Loyola traveled to Washington, D.C. to face Howard University. While suffering minor setbacks to Howard sprinters, Loyola defeated the Sharks soundly. The final score was 126-94.

After losing the opening relay due to a disqualification, John Moore and Vin Massey won the 1000- and 200- yard freestyle events back-to-back. David Raver, who finished second in the 200 free, won the 500 yard free in a time of 5:16.80. Jon Lang swam to victory in the 200 yard butterfly (2:08.63) with freshman teammate Paul Blasucci finishing second (2:15.57). Earlier, Lang won the 200 yard I.M. (2:04.03). Seniors Ashley Loper and Kevin Stack and freshman Mark Zidwick swept the 200-yard backstroke. Will Bryant, John Gunther and Jeff McCarthy finished second, third and fourth respectively in each of the two one meter diving competitions.
