REFERRING STUDENTS

The Career Center offers a number of services that may be of interest to you and your students. We invite you to explore our website and to encourage your students to do so as well. Once you are familiar with our services, you can discuss with your students how The Career Center can help them. Below are just a few of our services that may be of particular interest to you when referring your students to The Career Center.

Individual Advising Sessions
Students can make individual appointments with Career Advisors to discuss choice of major, career options, job strategies, resume writing, and graduate school opportunities. Any career-related topic of concern is proper for discussion with a Career Advisor.

Career Mentoring and Shadowing Program
The Career Mentoring and Shadowing Program is an opportunity for Loyola students of all majors to obtain career development guidance from a successful professional. After speaking with a Career Advisor, students may browse mentor resumes online through the Blackboard Learning System.

Online Services
A number of helpful online resources are available to students, faculty, and alumni through The Career Center's homepage. Please take a moment to explore Vault, Focus, What can I do with a major in?, Internships-USA and Internships.com. Contact The Career Center for usernames and passwords.

On-Campus Recruitment Program
Loyola's On-Campus Recruitment Program brings employers to campus during the Fall and Spring semesters to interview students for jobs and internships. Over 150 companies participate in this successful program that is open to students of all majors who have completed the required workshops.

Internships
Hands-on experiences, like internships, offer students opportunities to reflect on, integrate, and apply skills and knowledge. Pairing internships with other forms of academic and experiential learning enables students to gain the professional skills needed for effective participation in the workplace. The Career Center provides many services to help students locate and secure internships such as career advising related to interest, ability, and values assessment; instruction on researching opportunities through database, printed, and alumni resources; and training in resume writing, business correspondence and interviewing.

Alumni Career Network
Approximately 1000 Loyola Alumni are members of this successful network. They serve as a source of career information and employment opportunities for students and fellow alumni. The Network may be accessed through Hounds4Hire, our web-based recruiting system, requiring a username and password, which can be obtained from The Career Center.

Follow-Up Studies
Curious about your students' first destination after Loyola? Each year The Career Center conducts an undergraduate follow-up survey on the graduating class. Graduate Follow-up information is also available to faculty and students interested in information regarding opportunities for employment and admission to graduate school.

Special Programs
The Career Center sponsors/co-sponsors a number of special events throughout the year. These include: Spring Career Fair, Employer Presentations, Employer Networking Exchange, and the Majors Exploration Fair, as well as The Central Maryland College Job Fair co-sponsored by the Maryland Career Consortium. We greatly appreciate your assistance in encouraging students to participate in these valuable opportunities.
