How Parents Can Help

Encourage Exploration
Freshmen and sophomores should explore many fields of study and career options. Informational
interviews, volunteer work, part time jobs, leadership activities, and internships are helpful to students of all years and majors for exploring various careers and strengthening one's resume.

Listen To Your Student
Your son or daughter may come to you with a career concern, a decision to make regarding their choice of major, in need of help with job seeking skills, to obtain knowledge about career areas, or to discuss thoughts about graduate school.  Please realize that every student has their own timetable and some may feel more ready than others to make career-related decisions. Listen and learn what is important to your son or daughter. And keep in mind, we are here to help!

Recommend Resources
Encourage your son or daughter to take advantage of the events and services you see listed on our homepage. You may also familiarize yourself with the career planning process and entry level job opportunities.

Thank You
We look forward to working with your sons and daughters throughout their academic careers at Loyola and beyond. Thank you for your partnership in helping Loyola students achieve their career goals and aspirations.
