Career and Major Exploration

Alumni Career Network
Available through Hounds4Hire (under the "Mentor" feature).
Network with Loyola graduates who have volunteered to provide career guidance for students and alumni. Alumni can be a fundamental part of the job search and a great resources for gaining information about a particular career field, geographical location, and job and internship opportunities.

Career Mentoring and Shadowing Program
The Career Mentoring Program is an opportunity for Loyola students of all majors to obtain career development guidance from a successful professional. After speaking with a Career Advisor, students may browse mentor resumes online through the Blackboard Learning System.

FOCUS
Focus, a career and educational planning system, consists of the following self exploration assessments: current career planning status, interests and work values, education and training, personality and life values, leisure time preferences, and current or future skills.

Interest Testing - Strong Interest Inventory (SII) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
Assess your interests and personality type relating to possible majors and careers. Initial meeting with a Career Advisor is required.

What can I do with a major in?
This is a convenient website that helps connect majors with careers. For each major of interest, choose "Information" to find an outline of common career areas, typical employers, and strategies designed to maximize career opportunities. Choose "Links" to find a list of websites that provide information about listed majors and related careers.

Internship

Internships.com
Internships.com is the largest database of up-to-date internships offered to students. There are postings for the US as well as abroad. Search my major, compensation and/or location to locate an opportunity that suits your needs. Contact The Career Center for the promo code to get started.

Internships-USA.com is the largest internship site on the web with more than 3,000 organizations offering internships for college and law students.

Career Search
Career Search is an internet-based, employer research system containing a database of more than 3.5 million companies. With this tool you can search over 3.5 million companies worldwide, 250 publications, 9 million executives, 400 city reports and more than 300,000 web sites. This comprehensive system is available in Hounds4Hire.

Vault Online Career Library
Submit Loyola email address to receive password.
This online library provides students with their own online copy of 60+ Vault guidebooks, over 2.500 company profiles and discussion boards, dozens of industry and occupation overviews, and a vast database of Vault career advice articles.


Job and Internship Search

Hounds4Hire (formerly eRecruiting)
Contact The Career Center to activate your account.
The Career Center uses Hounds4Hire, a web-based system, to coordinate resume development, on-campus interviews and the job posting/referral system.  Hounds4Hire allows students to register information with The Career Center, develop and upload resumes and cover letters, select on-campus interview times and search for jobs and internships. Students can also gain access to company profiles using Hoovers Search.
