Safety Information

The building is operated by a Facility Manager in conjunction with members of the Timonium Team that is comprised of personnel in Facility Management, Public Safety, Environmental Services, and Technology Services. These individuals understand the importance of your safety, have a working knowledge of the building, and carry keys for appropriate access to all safety equipment.

In the event of an emergency, all students, faculty, administration, and staff may be interested in the following information:

  • Maps for evacuation and the 8-step Fire Plan are posted in every classroom and all common areas.
  • The area between the blue lights in the parking lot is our evacuation destination  – our alternate destination is the parking lot located behind the Grainger building.
  • Three Emergency Action Plan binders have been created in the event of an emergency. They are located at the front Security Desk, in Facility Management Office 04, and in Resource Center 78A.
  • Evacuation will require that the Emergency Action Plan binder, with the current class schedule, be hand-delivered to emergency responders for appropriate rescue – this procedure explains our continued efforts to document all scheduled space.
  • Surplus emergency drinking water is stored in Facility Records Room 22.
  • Emergency cell phones are stored in Administrative Office 02A. These phones are used exclusively in the event of an emergency and have been preprogrammed to contact appropriate college officials and the local Emergency Medical System.
  • If you are in the 24-hour area and are experiencing an emergency after hours, call 911 from any house phone. Campus Police can be also reached at x5911 at all times.
  • Two First Aid/Medical Supply cabinets are in the building – one in Facility Management Office 04 and one in Administrative Office 02A. (Ask for front window assistance.)
  • Our Material Safety Data Sheet binder is located in Resource Center 78A.
  • Keep your College ID with you at all times - if our Homeland Security Advisory System assigns a Severe (Red) threat condition, College policy requires that we limit access to active ID cards – this will mean that you cannot get into the building without your card!
  • CNN and other news channels are available on any TV in the building.
  • A Meditation Room 42 is available for use during facility hours – this room is not intended to be used as a general meeting space and does not need to be reserved.
  • The Timonium campus has a collaborative agreement for reciprocity with Holiday Inn, Red Roof Inn, and Earth Treks if we require additional space due to an emergency.
  • ID cards will only be active in the semester that you are currently registered.  This policy protects everyone in the 24-hour area after hours – please do not offer access to anyone you do not know!
  • Do not prop open ID access doors.  When you prop open these doors, an alarm sounds at our Campus Police base and an officer must be dispatched to investigate.  Access is limited to protect you – please be considerate.
  • Keep your belongings with you at all times, secure them when possible, and report theft as quickly as possible to the officer at the Security Desk or Campus Police at x5010.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Students who do not immediately evacuate the building in the event of an emergency will be FINED $250.00.
