The Loyola Online Technology Suite (LOTS) consists of the MyLoyola/Blackboard Portal, GroupWise, WebAdvisor and NetStorage. Accounts for these applications are automatically created for every student, faculty member, administrator and staff person when they join the College. Usernames are the same for all four applications. For complete, up-to-date information about passwords, go to www.loyola.edu/passwords.
MyLoyola is your portal to everything on the Web that you need. You can: access courses which you are taking or teaching and organizations in which you are participating; personalize your portal by adding modules such as the American Heritage Dictionary, Roget's Thesaurus and the New York Times; add links to all your favorite Web sites which will then be available from any computer when you are logged into the portal; and use the many additional features. Loyola College has adopted username@loyola.edu as the official e-mail address for electronic communications with students, faculty, administrators and staff. The College is committed to providing fully-integrated technology-enabled processes so that all academic and administrative offices are able to accomplish their goals effectively and efficiently. A key component of such processes is electronic communication and an e-mail address standard is needed to ensure consistency. Important aspects of this e-mail address standard include service quality, reliability, security, regulatory compliance, effectiveness, efficiency, and convenience. The College supports this critical 24/7 application with virus protection, spam control and minimal interruptions. GroupWise is the e-mail software used by the College. Your mail is accessible from anywhere in the world through any Web browser. It can also be accessed using a locally-installed GroupWise client program as well as other e-mail programs such as Outlook and Eudora. GroupWise offers the following features, among others: multiple address books, a personal calendar; distribution lists and message receipt notification. Student e-mail is retained in the system for 30 days and then purged, regardless of the opened/read status. Employee e-mail is retained indefinitely. Return to the top of the page.

Services available to employees include: accessing advising and class information; viewing leave plan summaries and enrolling for benefits such as health insurance. Return to the top of the page.
All Loyola students, faculty, administrators and staff have 100 MB of space on the network "G" Drive to store data. A big advantage to storing files on the āGā drive rather than on a local computer drive is that it is automatically backed up every night. Another advantage is that it is accessible from anywhere in the world. To access your network drives from a computer on campus, simply log in to the computer and double-click on "My Computer." You will see icons for your "G" drive and any other network drives you have access to. For instructions on how to access your network drives from off campus, click here. The MetaFrame Presentation Server, powered by Citrix, is a server solution that enables users to access Windows programs over the World Wide Web. Everyone can use the MetaFrame Presentation Server: students, faculty, staff and administrators. Every operating system can use the MetaFrame Presentation Server: Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX users. In other words, the MetaFrame Presentation Server would allow a staff member, using a Macintosh, to access software that previously was only available on Windows. Likewise, a computer science student, using Linux, could do the same. Return to the top of the page.
