Changing Your Password To change your Novell password, click on the “Change Password” button from the button bar in Virtual Office.
After you click on the “Change Password” icon, you will be taken to the “Change Password” page. The first part of this page will allow you to change your password. If you do not wish to change your password, at this time, you may skip this section of the page and move to the next.
To change your password, enter your old password in the first text field labeled “Old Password.” Next, enter your new password, twice, once in the second text field labeled “New Password” and once again in the last text field labeled “Retype Password.” When you have finished, click the “Submit” button. After you have clicked “Submit,” your new password will be accepted and the page will refresh. You will be shown a message stating that your password has been successfully changed. If you wish to change your password again, you may click the “Change Password Again” link at the bottom of the box.
Next, skip the section that asks you to create a “Password Hint.” Continue to the next section. Finally, and optionally, you will be asked to “Answer Challenge Questions.” These are questions that you will be asked to provide answers to when you need to retrieve or reset your password. The answers that you give are known as “Challenge Responses.” The System Administrator has defined the first two questions. Answer these questions in the spaces provided. The third question is one that you will create. Type your question in the space provided and then type your answer below that. When you have finished, click the “Submit” button. Providing this information will allow you to reset your password 24 hours a day through Virtual Office. When you come to Virtual Office to reset your password, you will be shown these questions and given an opportunity to answer them. Providing correct answers will allow you to reset your password. If you do not complete this section, then the only way to reset a forgotten password is to contact the Technology Service Center, either by phone at x-5555 or by e-mail at tsc@loyola.edu. If you are concerned about security, when answering these questions, then you may change your answers or add information to the answers. For example, if you are asked to provide your mother’s maiden name, and you are not comfortable giving that information, you can enter a different name, or use the name with the year of her birth attached to it. The answers you provide to these questions are completely determined by you.
After you have clicked “Submit,” your “Challenge Responses” will be accepted and the page will refresh. You will be shown a message stating that your “Challenge Responses” have been successfully changed. If you wish to change your “Challenge Responses” again, you may click the “Change Challenge Response Again” link at the bottom of the box.
