OUR ANCHOR,
YOUR
COMPASS

The core. It has defined us for more than 150 years. And it will define you for a lifetime. The core curriculum at Loyola is the foundation for a rich and meaningful intellectual life. In the core, you'll be exposed to critical knowledge in a wide variety of subjects including math, philosophy, ethics, art, and theology. Some you'll be familiar with, while others will be completely new to you. Some will force you out of your comfort zone. By studying the core, you'll develop lifelong habits of curiosity, honesty, persistence, and a passion for the pursuit of knowledge. When the time comes to do something different for a living (and research shows that it will), you'll be ready.

Curriculum & Faculty

AN OPEN DOOR
OPEN MINDS POLICY.

At Loyola, it's hard not to become immersed in every subject. After all, when you're learning from professors who are as passionate about their chosen areas of study as our faculty is, their passion tends to rub off a bit. Loyola professors are widely recognized in their fields - but they always make time to see to it that you are becoming the scholar, the person, they know you can become. And once you hone in on your subject of choice (who knows, your interest might stem from a core course you never thought you'd take), we have 37 majors and minors to choose from.

At Loyola, your experience doesn't end in the classroom - and our special programs offer the challenge you're looking for. Whether it's through the humanities, ROTC, study abroad, or research programs, you'll have the chance to add another dimension (or three) to your education at Loyola.

LIVING
& LEARNING

At Loyola, Living and Learning communities are designed to help students meet other first-year students through themed residential experiences. Each community offers programs and activities, from off-campus trips to dinner parties to guest speakers, based on specific academic interests. It's living combined with learning. Or simply, Living and Learning. So you can share your thoughts on Chavez along with chicken dinner. After all, a Loyola education doesn't end when you leave the classroom.
