| Greetings Parents! The campus is alive with energy this semester as students engage in their academic pursuits and participate in a vast array of co-curricular activities. We’re excited to introduce our parents of first-year students to this electronic newsletter, which is sent twice each academic year to the parents of all Loyola undergraduates. While memories of summer are still fresh in our minds, we thought you might enjoy reading about some of the unique ways Loyola students spent their summer break. We’ve also included an article on internships, which are available to students all year long. This issue is packed with information - from our efforts to keep the campus environmentally friendly, to a new opportunity for our graduates to encourage low-income high school students to pursue a college education. Plus, be sure to peruse the calendar of events so you stay abreast of activities at the Evergreen Campus. Enjoy! Susan Donovan, Ph.D. Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students | | | Each spring, college students must decide how to spend their seemingly endless days of summer break. Many will squander the days away, enjoying the freedom and respite from their studies, and some will take advantage of traditional carefree summer employment. Others will seek internships and opportunities to gain valuable work-related experience that will give them an edge on their peers when they enter the “real world” job market. For several Loyola College students, the summer of 2007 introduced them to unique opportunities and life-altering experiences.
