Greetings Parents!

As I look at my calendar, I find it hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It has been a busy and exciting semester at Loyola. In this newsletter you will find highlights of many of the activities in which our students have engaged this fall semester, from efforts to Rock the Vote and the recently developed campus-wide pledge for unity to social events and their pursuit of national fellowships. You can also watch videos—filmed in our own student-run TV station, WLOY—of student leaders discussing their Loyola experience and learn more about a student who set an American record at the Beijing Paralympic Games. You will see for yourself what a great semester it has been.

Make sure you also check out the calendar of events so you can stay up-to-date with College programs and deadlines.

I wish you all the best as we head into the holiday season.

Sincerely,
Susan Donovan, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Development

Rock the Vote

Student Voter Initiative
Achieves Great Success

During the very first days of the fall semester, a student-organized Rock the Vote initiative sprang to life, with volunteers canvassing residence halls, encouraging students and their families to register to vote and providing them with the materials to do so. First-year students were also encouraged to register during orientation, in their First Year Experience classes and at various athletic events. The initiative also included a concert on the Quad featuring the reggae band Jah Works in September.
