Loyola’s Parents’ Fund Supports Important Programs and Initiatives The level of support and involvement of Loyola’s parent community has long been one of the university’s greatest strengths. The Parents' Fund, a significant component of the annual Evergreen Fund, is one of the most significant examples of this extraordinary level of parent engagement. For over a decade, more than 50 percent of Loyola’s current parents have contributed to the Parents’ Fund, with more than 60 percent participating in each of the past five years. This remarkable level of parent participation is a tremendous endorsement of the educational experience Loyola provides. Gifts help to fund educational initiatives such as first-year programs, technology upgrades to enrich the learning experience and research grants to expand intellectual opportunities for students and faculty. Last year, 1,955 parents of current students supported the College with annual gifts totaling more than $612,000, a new record for the Parents’ Fund. This year’s Parents’ Fund campaign kicked off in October and already 10 percent of undergraduate parents have made a commitment to Loyola. The Parents’ Fund is supported through the volunteer efforts of The Parents Council, a leadership group that promotes Loyola’s mission and the exceptional academic experience the College provides through philanthropic and volunteer support. Under the leadership of National Chaircouple Randy and Susan Falco (parents of Jessica, '09, Matthew, '04 and Michael, '01) and National Vice-Chaircouple Ken ’76 and Kathy Boehl (parents of Kathleen, ’11), members encourage others to take part as active members of the Loyola community through participation in regional parent receptions and the Parents’ Fund. The Parents’ Fund fiscal year runs from September through May, and gifts are tax-deductible for the calendar year in which they are made.
